Women Dressing Women

We are just a short time away from the opening of the stunning exhibition Women Dressing Women in New York. It will showcase the work and artistic legacy of women fashion designers from the Metropolitan Museum of Art's holdings from the early twentieth century to the present. The fashion retrospective will highlight the work of more than 70 womenswear designers, from French haute couture houses such as Jeanne Lanvin, Elsa Schiaparelli, and Madeleine Vionnet, to American manufacturers such as Ann Lowe, Claire McCardell, and Isabel Toledo, as well as contemporary models Iris van Herpen, Rei Kawakubo, Anifa Mvuyemba, and Simone Rocha. The Met has published a catalog to accompany the exhibition. The exhibition organizers have identified four key themes - anonymity, activism, visibility, and inactivity. The exhibition will run until March 7, 2024.
