Erdem - pre-fall 2023

If you love dresses, check out Erdem's beautiful pre-fall 2023 collection. The designer makes no secret that he drew inspiration from the aesthetics of the second half of the 19th century. The flower garden is a favorite British theme. This time it is realized in the "interior" painting on fabric, inspired by the wallpaper and upholstery of Victorian houses.
The tailoring and textiles are combined in a new way. Dresses with a high collar and puffed sleeves of English embroidery reveal the language of underwear. A tulle skirt conceals an embroidered silk dress, adding to the decorum. Pleated Victorian bibs embroidered with black jets are glamorous and haughty at the same time. The corset and bonnets are played with in different forms, in places constricted and unbuttoned, hinting at the changing social status of women in this era.
